✦ Curious or Skeptical? ✦

Skeptical About Tarot?

Whether you're curious, skeptical, or somewhere in between — here's an honest look at what a reading with me is actually like.

✦ The Questions, Answered Honestly ✦

Common questions about tarot.

If you're skeptical, that's fine. Here are some of the most frequent things that I hear.

Q.It sounds made up.

That's fair. The cards are beautiful, but they don't have magical powers. I use them as a tool to focus our attention and pick up what your spirit guides and your wise mind are trying to tell you. Sometimes tarot can give you the kick you need to make a change for the better.

Q.Can it actually help me with a real problem?

Most of the time, the problem people bring to a reading isn't the real problem. Someone comes in asking about a job and realizes halfway through that they're asking about their self-worth. We work together with the cards to get at the root of an issue and bring clarity to the surface.

Q.What if the cards are just random?

They might be. But I use the cards as a starting point. I also listen to you, read your energy, and follow what's actually there.

Q.I'm not spiritual. Will that be a problem?

Not at all. I have read for scientists, medical students, skeptics, even atheists. You don't need to believe in anything for us to collaborate and help you remember your power.

Q.What if I don't like what the cards show?

Then you have an opportunity. If something uncomfortable comes up, I take you through what the cards actually mean and you can decide what, if anything, you want to do about it. Discomfort is often the most useful part of a reading.

✦ Why it matters who reads for you ✦

The reader is the variable.

The difference between a useful reading and a useless one isn't the cards, it's the person holding them. What makes a reader worth your time: genuine attention, the ability to pick up on what you're not saying, kindness, and the honesty to tell you things you might not want to hear. The goal is to provide loving support. If anyone tells you you’re under a curse or some seriously negative energy, that is your cue to leave.

Before I ever read professionally, I spent time studying with gifted teachers, readers, and mediums. I also hold a demanding day job in a world that has no patience for wishful thinking. As a result, I bring intuition and rigor into a reading.

I don’t perform. I don’t tell you what you want to hear. I tell you what's actually showing up, and you decide what to do with it. That's the version of tarot that helps people.
